About Us

Smart Family Services (SFS) was founded in 2014 by Dr. Crystall Sisco with a clear mission: to uplift and empower Maryland's at-risk teens through support, guidance, and resources. Crystall recently defended her dissertation proposal and graduated in Spring 2023 with a Doctorate in Community Care and Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University. Not only does Crystall hold a Doctorate Degree in Education and Counseling, she also has a Master's in Social Work from Howard University, and a Bachelor's in Child and Adolescent Studies from Bowie State University. Crystall is a Licensed Social Worker in both Maryland and the District of Columbia, a licensed real estate agent, a notary, and, above all, a Christian.

Over the years, SFS has grown and expanded, offering a wide range of services for children, adults, and families. Through community partnerships and networking, we've broadened our offerings to include everything from housing support, life skills, social skills, internships, to consulting.

SFS, Inc. brings years of experience in working with and guiding at-risk youth and families facing homelessness, crises, and social exclusion. We are both collaborative team players and strong leaders, known for our ability to manage time effectively while remaining fun, organized, and efficient. Our expertise spans from business leadership and partnerships to direct service practice, and even the macro-level management of programs and organizations. We excel at connecting individuals with resources and community support. Committed to staying informed through ongoing research, we continuously strive to provide high-quality services to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors who have experienced emotional, financial, physical, spiritual abuse, or neglect. Our practice is rooted in cultural competence, acknowledging the differences, norms, values, and belief systems of the children and families we serve. We focus on meeting people where they are mentally, helping them secure basic human needs, and empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency, while fostering self-determination and independence. Our approach to helping others thrive is driven by empathy and shaped by a combination of didactic, experiential, and applied research practices. We are particularly dedicated to supporting vulnerable, oppressed individuals and those living in poverty throughout Maryland and the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Above all, we uphold the National Association of Social Workers' Core Values in their “Code of Ethics,” with an emphasis on dignity and respect for all individuals.

At SFS, we are committed to making a positive impact, one family at a time.
